Did your favorite college basketball team make it into the
68-team for the upcoming NCAA Men’s College Basketball Tournament?
We watched the CBS Selection Show (really? Do we need two
hours of hype and talk before we announce the teams?) and, while we were
disappointed with some of the teams that made it to the field (i.e., Syracuse)
and hoped San Diego State would have been picked, we’ll settle for what we get
and move on to making our predictions; filling out our brackets and entering
into a few free online contests.
The teams earning No. 1 seeds include: Kansas, North
Carolina, Virginia and Oregon.
Two “feed-in” games take place in Dayton, Ohio starting
Wednesday night with No. 16 Florida Gulf Coast University (20-16) taking on No.
16 Fairleigh Davidson (18-14) at 6:40 p.m. EST followed by No. 11 Vanderbilt
(19-13) meeting No. 11 Wichita State (24-8) at approximately 9:10 p.m. Both
games will be televised on trutv.
Then, on Wednesday night, two more “feed-in” contests are
also set to take place in Dayton with No. 16 Holy Cross (14-19) facing No. 16
Southern University (22-12) at 6:40 p.m., followed by No. 11 Michigan (22-12)
taking on No. 11 Tulsa (20-11) at approximately 9:10 p.m. Both games will be
televised on truetv.
The real action gets under way on Thursday, March 17 (St.
Patrick’s Day) at 12:15 p.m. with No. 4 Duke kicking off a full-day of
basketball action against UNC-Wilmington.
Top-seeded Kansas meets No. 16 Austin Peay at 4 p.m. (TNT),
while No. 1 Virginia takes on No. 16 Hampton at 3:10 p.m. (trutv) and No. 1
North Carolina faces the Florida Gulf Coast-Fairleigh Davidson winner at 7:20
p.m. (TBS).
On Friday, March 18, another big day of NCAA basketball
starts at 12:15 p.m. with seventh-seeded Dayton taking on No. 10 Syracuse
(CBS).
Top-seeded Oregon meets the Holy Cross-Southern winner on
Friday, March 18 at 7:27 p.m. (trutv).
Good luck with all your picks!
